International Quilt Market - Minneapolis, May 15 - 17 2015 |
We were at Spring Market in Minneapolis where we debuted our new collection CHICKEN IN THE KITCHEN. Our booth was filled with these adorable, makeable chickens from our Chicken in the Kitchen panel. Also debuted at market was our SISTER BROTHER accessories collection featuring fabrics from our BELLA STRADA line. We also made available for the first time, quilted cotton: two coordinating patterns from our Bella Strada collection with a luscious batting in between. Viva Quilt Market! Viva Minneapolis!

Festival Gallery of Quilt Art: HOME sponsored by Alexander Henry Fabrics |
In honor of Quilt Market’s 35th anniversary we happily sponsored this year’s Festival Gallery Quilt Art: HOME competition where quilters from around the globe were invited to interpret the meaning of home through the art of quilting. We would like to congratulate the winner of the HOME category, Betty Busby of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who created the stunning quilt, “Home on the Reef.” We also took a particular shine to the work of Vicki Conley, “Conflagration, Desolation, Rejuvenation, Jubilation,” in which she contemplates the phases of desolation and rebirth when a forest fire threatened her mountain home. And we heard a little Frank Sinatra (“I’ve got the world on a string…”) when we happened upon Christine Alexiou’s “Little Blue Planet,” a beautiful piece that underscores the idea of Earth as home for all humanity. Congratulations to all the quilters who were included in this amazing display of quilt art!

International Quilt Market - Houston, October 25 - 27 2014 |
The 35th annual Quilt Market in Houston found us literally setting up camp replete with teepees showcasing dramatic panels of our latest collection PRAIRIE HOUSE (active link). Each teepee represented one of three exciting color stories in this quilt group celebrating geometry and the organic line. Our show carpet sprouted weeds and the campfire burned bright as we took first prize for a multiple booth at the show. We have quilt designer Charlotte Angotti to thank for making two stunning quilt panels that added the perfect exclamation point to this winning collection. Along with PRAIRE HOUSE we also introduced our second preview, ZOO BISOU (active link), an irresistible follow-up story to our successful children’s print, 2-D Zoo. This lyrical jungle story for the young modernist gave our Quilt Market buyers three delicious color stories to choose from. Thank you Houston for a great show!

International Quilt Market - Pittsburgh, May 16 - 18 2014 |
Pittsburgh Market arrived amidst tropical storms that lent a misty air to the new groups we previewed there. The Ghastlies were in the building, teetering atop an umbrella ferrule...balancing or tumbling to their end? Black on black mobiles, wonderfully Ghastlie quilted panels, and heavy impasto Ghastlie family portraits lent an artfully spooky air to our booth that took away the second place Multiple Booth Award. Our preview groups included the latest (or last?) installment of the Ghastlies with three new patterns added to the series. Featured alongside the Ghastlies, was our new Mecca For Moderns collection which focused this season on the delicate modernism of Sweden. The Dove colorway works beautifully with the Ghastlie collection. Those who came to Pittsburgh also got a sneak peek at the new Love, Luck & Liberty patterns slated for Spring 2015. With quilt panels by Charlotte Angotti and our own Miho Tsukimura, there were several inspiring ideas for quilting at Market!
